44 And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. 45 And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. 47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak. 50 And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”

So Jesus says that he did not come to judge the world. However, his words bring judgment. The world has to make a choice and Jesus has made it clear. To accept Jesus’ testimony is to accept and be accepted by the Father. To reject Jesus’ testimony is to reject and be rejected by the Father. Many people today put off the decision or walk gladly into the darkness. People today still love darkness. They can be saved, but they don’t want to be saved.
There are at least two reasons people don’t want to be saved. One is that they do not know what they need saving from. The other is that they do not know what they need saving to. Christians often miss this point. We are saved from God’s judgment against darkness in this passage. We are saved too eternal life. What is the life God wants you to live?

He wants believers to delight in the triune reality that Jesus brought to us — to bring glory to His name and love Him with our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
God wants me to accept and live by His Truth and to live a faithful life dedicated to loving, serving, and honoring Him.
God wants me to live a life that revels in his glory. He wants me to live like a child of the King, a citizen of the far kingdom. God wants me to live in true life. He wants to bring light to the dark areas of my heart.
God wants me to enjoy fellowship with Him as His child, and to grow to be more like Him (what father doesn’t want his children to love him enough to emulate him?).
I think this is how we are supposed to be, too. We are not here to judge others, but we are to spread a word that will bring judgment. The gospel is offensive to others, but we are not supposed to be offensive in our nature and attitude towards them.
I believe God wants me to live a life of faithfulness. From my reading and study, He does not demand perfection from me, but He does ask for faithfulness and obedience. My purpose should be to bring God glory. I should not be worshiping any other but Him.
He wants me to live an “abundant” life and experience the freedom He made possible. I just read another blog post about what it means to live “blessed.” She pointed out… “Because blessed does not mean pleased. Blessed does not mean happy. Blessed does not mean fulfilled. It doesn’t even mean fed or clothed or housed or healthy… What it really means is that you are not alone, for God is with you. God’s blessing is His presence.” (from Jamie the very worst missionary)
This morning I read the entry, “What’s Better Than Jesus Beside You” on the Desiring God blog. The answer? The Spirit’s presence in you.
The main point of the blog was that we as Christians can tend to either over emphasize or deemphasize the person, presence, and work of the Holy Spirit. As I reflected on what they said, I was encouraged to see that I fall (healthily) somewhere in the middle of that spectrum most days, and that I am aligning my thinking and speaking to be more Christlike each day. I am thankful for the professors at Moody who have contributed to this part of my spiritual formation, and thus helped me grow in my love of God and of people.
The blog reminded me how actively engaged with his people that God is, that he desires an intimate relationship with each of us so much so that he sent his Spirit to dwell within each of us. He is not just our ministry partner beside us, but in us and through us! This is a difficult reality to sometimes to remember as I go about my day and struggle through it seems as if by my own strength. However, in actuality, it is He that is sustaining me and giving me life. He sheds his love abroad in our hearts and we know we are His (Rom. 5:5, 8:15). As we encounter God in the Word, one of the vessels through which he reveals and gives himself to us, we are likely to fall more and more in love with Him, and the Spirit helps us to do just that (Eph. 3:14–18).
In response to the question, “What is the life God wants you to live?”, God wants me to live a life that is fully dependent on Him, in his provision, his strength, his saving work, and grace. He wants me to rest in his love, to love Him with my whole being, and love others the way he does.
God wants me to live a life of worship. He wants me to delight in him and his gifts. He wants me to accept his love, and overflow with love for those surrounding me because of it. He wants me to live this life fully in joyful and hopeful union with Christ.
God wants me to live in freedom by the Spirit. He wants me to find my confidence and identity in Him so that the joy of knowing Him and His unconditional love will overflow and touch others.
God wants me to live a life bringing him glory with everything I say and do. He wants me to be a fully devoted follower!
God wants me to live a life that is pleasing to him in which I trust Him and love him and love others.
He wants me to live a life loving and obeying Him. He came for me to live in his light and to believe in who he is
A life not in darkness. A life that knows what Jesus says are the very words of God, eternal life.
I believe that God wants me to live life with a heart that is vulnerable and soft to Him.
God wants me to not only believe in him but to seek him. To chase after him and not walk in the darkness of the world.
